Protect your immune system

Protect your immune system

Even though the last few days have not really looked like the typical autumn weather and we have not been able to get enough vitamin D, it is still just around the corner and, as we all know, it brings us not only the golden autumn, but also the virus season.

In order to stay healthy during this time, we must provide our immune system with sufficient protection.

But first we need to know that our immune system is a very complex and, above all, delicate network that is spread throughout the entire organism and is even of central importance for allergies and intestinal health. Our job is to properly protect our immune system all year round.

So how can we best protect our immune system?

First, we want to look at nutrition, which is extremely important when we talk about the immune system. After all, it is not without reason that they say "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Fruit and vegetables are rich in important vitamins and minerals that are essential for our immune system.

However, the consequences of modern agriculture are often more serious than we think. There are fewer and fewer nutrients in fruit and vegetables because most types of fruit and vegetables can now be easily grown through industrial mass production.

And that is precisely where the disadvantage lies for us as consumers, because not only do they contain harmful pollutants, but they also lack important vitamins. This also means that the bioavailability of the food is significantly reduced, which also means that our bodies cannot always absorb all the nutrients.

Therefore, we can additionally support our organism with dietary supplements such as zinc, magnesium, vitamin C, or other antioxidants.

In addition, you should ensure you get enough sleep and regular exercise in the fresh air to keep your immune system healthy. Did you know that an adult should get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a day? Anything less than that will often make you feel unfocused and tired throughout the day.

And last but not least: relax!

Various studies have reported that increased stress damages the immune system. Anyone who suffers from constant stress can harm themselves through the resulting increased release of the stress hormone cortisol, which can also endanger their physical and mental health.

With that in mind, stay healthy!
